Henry Knox was a military officer in the Contential Army under authority by General George Washington. Mr. Washington, who later on became our first president, most influenced Mr. Knox because he was his mentor and taught him how to be a military officer. He has now influenced many other important figures to join the army. Mr.Knox was known for transporting the cannons to Fort Ticonderoga which was later named after himself and changed to Fort Knox.
Henry Knox accomplished many things over the course of his life and is very well known for being a major military officer and for being an extremely large man weighing in at 300 pounds and standing 6 feet tall . One major accomplishment was that in a lengthy trip Knox and his men managed to transport 60 pieces of artillery and equipment on sleds over 300 miles of snow and ice to Washington’s waiting army. Henry Knox was a huge contributor to the Battle of Yorktown because of his artillery crew making sure the British could not get them. When the Continental Army had to retreat, Knox's artillery crew would use their cannons and such and slow the British in their tracks and help the Americans win some key battles during the war. When the American's fought against the Hessian's, his artillery woke them up and brought them down to their demise. The British at one point had a large amount of artillery but the American's didn't and Knox and his crew brought the materials over 300 miles through snow and ice to Washington's waiting army.
